Reveri is worth it if you want short, interactive self-hypnosis for stress, sleep, pain or focus and you like a Stanford-backed method; it costs $24.99 a month or $99.99 a year in the US, after a 7-day free trial. It is weaker if you want deep, varied content or a structured program for a long-running pattern such as emotional eating, and recent reviewers often call the sessions repetitive.

Disclosure: I'm Paola Mendez, certified RTT (Rapid Transformational Therapy) hypnotherapist trained by Marisa Peer and founder of Mochi Zen, another hypnosis app. That makes me a competitor, so everything below is sourced to Reveri's own store listings, its published research and its public reviews, and I've been explicit about where Reveri beats us.

If your reason for looking at Reveri is food rather than stress, compare it with an app built for that. Free for 7 days.

The Short Answer

Reveri in one paragraph

What it is: guided self-hypnosis from Stanford psychiatrist Dr. David Spiegel, in roughly 10-minute sessions. Best for: stress, sleep, pain, focus and quick craving interruptions. Cost: $24.99/month or $99.99/year, 7-day trial. Ratings: 4.5★ on iOS (4,400+ ratings), 4.1★ on Google Play. Main complaints: repetition, short sessions, and billing surprises.

How Much Does Reveri Cost in 2026?

Reveri doesn't publish a price list on its website; the numbers below come from its US App Store in-app purchase list, checked September 2026.

PlanUS App Store pricePer month
Monthly$24.99$24.99
3 months$59.99~$20.00
Yearly$99.99~$8.33
Free trial7 days-

Two things to know. First, the same listing also shows higher tiers ($53.99 a month and $179.99 a year), and Google Play lists items from $11.99 to $299.99, so the price you're offered can vary by platform, promotion or plan. Second, one August 2026 App Store reviewer complained the app was "twice as expensive as advertised." Check the exact price on the payment screen before confirming. For how Reveri's pricing compares with every other hypnosis app, see our hypnosis app pricing guide.

How Does Reveri Work?

Reveri turns Dr. Spiegel's clinical self-hypnosis method into short sessions, usually 5 to 13 minutes. The method is brief by design: you're guided into a focused state, given a suggestion aimed at the present moment (release tension, let go of the craving, drift toward sleep), and brought back out.

Sessions come in two modes:

  • Interactive mode: Dr. Spiegel's guide asks how you're doing, and you answer by speaking or tapping the screen. The session adapts to your responses in real time. Several 2025–2026 reviewers describe this guide as mostly AI-powered using Dr. Spiegel's voice.
  • Listening mode: a plain guided audio session with no interaction, for when you just want to lie back.

Topics cover chronic pain, stress and anxiety, sleep, focus, and habits including smoking, vaping and overeating. The app is built to be used situationally: you open it when you need it, rather than working through a fixed program in order.

That situational design is Reveri's defining choice, and it explains both its strengths and its complaints. It's excellent when you know exactly when you need help: before a presentation, during a pain flare, at the moment a craving hits. It's less suited to problems that don't announce themselves, such as a low, steady background of anxiety or an eating pattern that runs on autopilot, because those need regular practice whether or not you feel like opening the app. Reveri does let you use sessions daily, but it doesn't sequence them into a course that builds week by week.

Does Reveri Actually Work?

Reveri has better research behind it than most wellness apps, but it's worth reading precisely.

Its flagship study, published in npj Digital Medicine in December 2025 (Tran et al.), analysed 84,395 users and 282,893 sessions. Self-rated stress on a 0–10 scale fell from before to after each of the first ten sessions, with large effect sizes (d = −0.71 to −0.78). The caveats: it was retrospective and observational with no control group, it measured stress only, and Dr. Spiegel is a Reveri co-founder. We cover it in depth in our write-up of the Stanford hypnosis app study.

Reveri's marketing figures such as "77% less pain" and "90% more rested" come from internal user data, not peer-reviewed trials; its Google Play listing says as much. The underlying method, clinical hypnosis for pain and stress, does have decades of research behind it. What's missing is a randomized trial of the app itself.

Reveri shines in the moment. For a pattern that keeps coming back, like 9pm eating, a sequenced program does more.

What Reveri Does Well

  • Pedigree. Dr. Spiegel is one of the most cited hypnosis researchers alive, and the method has a real clinical track record.
  • Interactivity. Answering the guide keeps you engaged and makes each session feel less like a recording, which helps people who drift off during standard audio.
  • Speed. Ten minutes fits before a meeting, at a desk or at 2am, and the in-the-moment design suits stress spikes and cravings.
  • Breadth. One subscription covers stress, sleep, pain, focus and habits.
  • Ratings. 4.5★ from 4,400+ iOS ratings is strong for a paid health app.

What Do Reveri Users Complain About?

From recent public App Store reviews (2025–2026), the recurring complaints are:

  • Repetition. "Every single session is basically the same" (February 2026) is a common theme among long-term users.
  • Short or rushed sessions. Some want longer, deeper sessions than the 10-minute format allows.
  • Pricing and billing. Complaints about prices not matching what was advertised, and a few about charges after a trial or a refused refund. Other reviewers say cancelling was easy.
  • Doesn't adapt to changing symptoms. One January 2026 reviewer felt the sessions didn't change as their condition did.

None of these are unusual for the category, but repetition matters more for Reveri than most, because the value comes from coming back again and again.

Is Reveri Good for Weight Loss?

Partly. Reveri has an "Eat Well" exercise it suggests using every morning and before each meal, and it reports that 63% of users felt more in control of their eating after a single session (internal data, not a trial). As a craving interrupter, that's useful.

What it doesn't have is a sequenced weight or emotional-eating program, or any food, exercise or weight tracking. The research on hypnosis for weight is about adding hypnosis to a behavioral program: Kirsch's 1996 reanalysis found 14.88 lbs lost with hypnosis versus 6.03 lbs without at final assessment, though critics found a smaller effect. That's the gap Mochi Zen fills with RTT-based programs plus logging, and our head-to-head Mochi Zen vs Reveri goes deeper.

How Does Reveri Compare With Other Hypnosis Apps?

The pattern: Reveri is the best tool in the category, something you reach for in a moment, while Nerva and Mochi Zen are programs you work through in order to change a baseline. Neither shape is better in general; they suit different problems. If you're weighing Reveri against the IBS option specifically, see Reveri vs Nerva vs Mindset.

How Do You Get the Most From Reveri's Free Trial?

Seven days is short for any hypnosis app, so plan it:

  1. Pick one goal. Sampling every topic tells you little. Choose the one problem that made you download it and use that section daily.
  2. Try both modes. Use interactive mode for at least three sessions before deciding it isn't for you; the interaction is the main thing you're paying for. Switch to listening mode at bedtime.
  3. Use it in the moment. Reveri is designed for right now. Open it when the stress spike, craving or 2am waking actually happens, not only at a scheduled time.
  4. Rate yourself before and after. A quick 0–10 score for stress, pain or craving before and after each session gives you your own data by day seven.
  5. Set a cancellation reminder for day six. Given the billing complaints, decide deliberately rather than by default.

If after a week the sessions already feel repetitive, that's a meaningful signal: the complaint rarely improves with time, and a program with more progression may suit you better.

Is Reveri Worth It?

Yes, if your needs are stress, sleep, pain or focus; you like short interactive sessions; and the Stanford method is what will keep you practising. The yearly plan at $99.99 is good value if you'll use it several times a week.

Probably not, if you want long, varied sessions; you want a structured program for a pattern that keeps returning, such as anxiety, insomnia, burnout or emotional eating; or you've been burned by subscription billing before (start monthly and set a reminder before the trial ends). If you're leaving, our Reveri alternatives are sorted by goal.

And if what you need is personal work rather than an app, I see private clients in Miami and remotely through Pao Hypnosis.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the Reveri app cost?

On the US App Store in September 2026, Reveri costs $24.99 per month, $59.99 for three months or $99.99 per year, after a 7-day free trial. The listing also shows higher tiers, and Google Play lists items from $11.99 to $299.99, so confirm the price on the payment screen before subscribing.

Is Reveri worth the money?

For stress, sleep, pain or focus, most users think so: it holds 4.5 stars from over 4,400 iOS ratings, and the yearly plan works out near $8.33 a month. It is less worth it if you want long, varied sessions or a structured weight or emotional-eating program.

Does Reveri actually work?

Its best evidence is an 84,395-user study in npj Digital Medicine showing large drops in self-rated stress after sessions. That study was observational with no control group and measured stress only. Clinical hypnosis for pain and stress has decades of research, but the app itself lacks a randomized trial.

Is Reveri AI?

Partly. Reveri's interactive mode asks questions and adapts to your spoken or tapped answers in real time using Dr. David Spiegel's voice, and several 2025 and 2026 reviewers describe the guide as mostly AI-powered. It also has a listening mode that plays a standard guided session.

Is Reveri free?

No. Reveri offers a 7-day free trial, then requires a paid subscription. If you want free hypnosis, Insight Timer has a large free library, and some apps such as Mochi Zen have a free tier. Set a reminder before any trial ends to avoid an unwanted charge.

How long are Reveri sessions?

Most Reveri sessions last about 10 minutes, ranging from roughly 5 to 13. The short format is deliberate, following Dr. Spiegel's brief self-hypnosis method, and suits in-the-moment use. Some reviewers find the sessions too short or rushed for deeper relaxation.

How do I cancel a Reveri subscription?

Cancel through the store you subscribed with. On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Reveri. On Android, open Google Play, tap your profile, then Payments and subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription on either platform.

Is Reveri good for weight loss?

It can help interrupt cravings with its Eat Well exercise, but it has no sequenced weight or emotional-eating program and no food or weight tracking. Research supports hypnosis as an add-on to a behavioral weight plan, so a program with logging built in may suit weight goals better.
